How To
Join
AIA welcomes new members interested
in upholding the principals that embody our organization.
Just click
here for an application form in an Adobe Acrobat
PDF format. Fill it out and return it with a check
for $50 (the annual dues), plus $35 (one-time initiation fee), the names of three professional
references, and the results of a State Criminal History
Check from the Alaska State Troopers (this cannot be more
than 30 days old). The membership year runs from January
1 through December 31. The Board of Directors will notify
you upon approval of your application.
Membership guidelines designate
an active voting member as an individual engaged in investigation
for the defense in a criminal case; for the plaintiff or
defendant in a civil case, or who is retained in a disputed
matter; and/or other individuals or agencies deemed appropriate
by a majority vote of the Board of Directors. Only active
members may vote or hold office.
Benefits include luncheon meetings
featuring guest speakers, educational opportunities both
in and out of state, a bi-monthly newsletter - The Northern
Investigator, and inclusion in AIA Membership Directory,
a desk reference that is widely distributed to active attorneys
in Alaska; as well as other AIA members, making it a valuable
resource for the investigator. Other advantages include
the informal but useful benefits of professional connections,
pooled experience, seminar discounts, networking and information
exchange.
