According to the government of the United States, private investigations may or may not be licensed or even approved and registered by any government body that has the authority to provide license, or simply the state police department can recognize the investigation agency. The licensing can differ from each state and can even range from; 1) no state license required, 2) the need of several years of experience and training classes and tests regarding licensing (as the case with California and Virginia), 3) the state or the city where the business license is required (the five states are Alaska, Idaho, Mississippi, South Dakota and Wyoming).
In many states, the companies that are offering the investigation services should hold a valid agency license. Private investigators are mostly abbreviated as PI and called Private eye, informally. And private detective or an inquiry agent is a person who is hired by an organization, separate groups, or individuals to accomplish the law investigatory services. Private detectives or private investigators are made to often work for the civil attorneys for criminal cases. Private detectives are recruited through various portals and tests. They are tested for their IQs and quick evaluation skills and even to work under pressurized situations.
